There was once I did not like the service so I tipped less and the waitress rushed out to the door and demanded us to pay in 10% full... and that was a Japanese buffet restaurant... in downtown...

Also, local white Canadians, when they go to Chinese restaurants in Vancouver "in the past", they don't pay tips. They go to the cashiers and pay directly.
hahaha i though that's the way japanese do. cos that's the way it's still in most restaurants in japan.

你搞錯了。唔係餐廳tipping scheme問題,係個人出街洗錢禮儀問題. 我地住喺度,文化係比TIPS架嘛。除非真係差到無論~
agree with you. i pay at min 10% in chinese restaurant unless the service is terrible.
i think the server get a portion (if not all) of the table they served in most "western" restaurant. that's why you cannot just wave down anyone to serve yours.
I think something is funny...why we go to chinese restaurant to give 10 % tips , if we go other western place's restaurant, we give 15%-20% tips ne? especially a big party in chinese restaurant, everyone just10% or below....I just wonder...
