I think you're making an incorrect assumption here. I believe what ACC-HE is trying to point out is that if someone has a bf/gf, then some career-related decisions that are made can affect that person's other half. Because of this factor, having a bf/gf may sometimes make one think twice about certain career-related decisions compared to when one does not have a bf/gf.
This doesn't really say anything about whether that person is willing to invest time and energy in a relationship. Correct me if I'm wrong ACC-HE.
I am content on where I am (being married and having an okay work); of course I am always looking for for better opportunities and when that time comes I do believe what my wife thinks will be a factor to my decision too.
