Need some advice from LYKs

I'm looking to buy a range but not sure which one to get and what are their pros and cons.

I personally like smooth top but coil top is OK too.  Problem with smooth top is that it can't hold a lot of spill before it runs over.  Problem with coil top is it's hard to clean and it's getting out of date.

There are two types of smooth top, convection and coil?  There's also one called Ceran top, I'm not sure what's the difference.  Anyone knows?

Ceran is a brands of glass-ceramics, but needs special care.

Personally I like smooth top cause they are easier to clean if you did spill something, and if you spill a lot, well you are more screwed with a coil top cause the spill gets underneath and "inside" the stove.
