Where are the must go must do things in Portland?  Where do you recommend to stay??  I am planning for a 3 to 4 day trip driving  from Vancouver to Oregon.

i did a 5-day roadtrip to Oregon back in May...one day spent at Cannon Beach, one day at Mount St. Helens, half day shopping @ Woodburn, half day @ Seattle, rest just shopping here and there and driving...if you do go to cannon Beach, double-check the tide tables....it's very cool to see it both at Super low tide and at high tide....and go eat at Red Lobster and Cheesecake factory!

I just came back from Oregon two days ago.
here's my itinerary:
Day 1 - Vancouver->Astoria
Day 2 - Astoria (Maritime museum, Fort Stevens State Park (ship wreck))-> Canon Beach-> Tilamook cheese -> Lincoln City
Day 3 - Lincoln City -> Woodburn company store (outlet) -> Downtown shopping (downtown street parking is free on Sunday), dinner in Bridgeport Village
Day 4 - Shopping (Washington Square, Costco, Target) -> Vancouver

BTW any hotel you recommend?  I might try to bit on priceline but not sure which area to pick

Astoria I totally recommend Cannery Pier Hotel.

In Portland I mostly stayed in Holiday Inn Express Jantzen Beach.

Oregon Coast I stayed in Starfish Manor.

In portland, I think the one hotel I like the most is called Loft... My friends get it for 55 bucks per night.

I went to Astoria, Seaside and Canon Beach. The scenery is superb.  I recommend people to stay in Seaside area.  Lots of choices for hotel by the beach.  I stayed at Inn At Seaside.  Decent price and service.
