Be the first to Comment  2 Recommendation(s) VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Suburban pub owners are getting creative, following the introduction of stiffer drunk-driving penalties and the introduction of the HST. Now some of them are starting to offer free shuttle service, to remove concern about roadblocks and impounded vehicles.

Todd Arbuthnot owns the Fox's Reach in Maple Ridge and The Landing in Ladner. He says recent changes have been tough on business. "The cumulative affect, we've been down anywhere from 20 to 50 per cent, depending on the night.  In general, we're probably down about 30 per cent."

He says he's spent about $10,000 on two vans to start a free shuttle service, which he expects to be up and running this weekend.

Meanwhile, bar owners in Downtown Vancouver say business has remained steady and they haven't planned any adjustments to their business plans.

So bar operators won't be responsible for what they did after getting off the bus?
If so, there still drunk and drive

I don't think it will be that useful.
