Olympic Cauldron re-lit in honour of Jack Poole Oct 22 7:30pm
Join us to celebrate Jack Poole...the man who embodied our Olympic and Paralympic spirit as we re-ignite the 2010 Games Cauldron at the dedication of the Jack Poole Plaza In honour of the man who ignited our Olympic spirit.
Friday October 22 at 7:30pm
Following the longest national torch relay in Olympic history by 12,000 individual
torchbearers, the cauldron was first lit on February 12, 2010 to open the
Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The flame symbolizes the abiding values of friendship, peace and leadership that lie at
the heart of the 2010 Games and of all Canadians. These are values that were also
personified in Jack Poole, a giant of a man. Jack’s contributions to the community and his unwavering commitment to the public good are legend. His tireless service as Chairman of the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the Games was in large part responsible for their tremendous success. |
