ABBOTSFORD/MISSION (NEWS1130) - Police are now warning parents about the dangers of gangs. Just one day after Abbotsford-Mission was named the murder capital of Canada, police in that community are kicking off the next stage of their anti-gang initiative.
It's called "Operation Lodestar" and Constable Ian MacDonald says the Police Chief and the Mayor George Peary will be there for the first presentation at Bateman Secondary School. A few hundred parents are expected to take part. StatsCan says last year in the Abbotsford-Mission region, there were nine homicides, giving that area the title of "murder capital of Canada"
