2 words of advise (I own and use 2 Avent microwave steriliser on rotation so I know):

1)Make sure you add 7oz (approx. 210ml) of water before you steam it.
2) be careful about microwave wattage before you use it: e.g. check the back panel to confirm the wattage before you set the microwave settings.

Recall that for 700Watts approx. 11mins; for 110watts, about 4mins.

Take care and have a safe trip home.

no need to sterilize after 3 months

My family doctor told me, it is not necessary to sterilize the bottles anymore after 3 months.  It's because the baby already "eats his/her fingers" at around 3 months and his/her hands touch all kind of stuff, so their hands are full of all kind of germs.  He/she is already accustomed with the germs.  so all we need to do is clean the bottles.  Now my son is 6 months, and i haven't sterilized bottles for long time.  He is still doing fine.

Seriously you don't want your baby at this age to ingest radiation for your convenience.

Sorry, I have no intention to offense,

Maybe their wavelength is too long that a cloth can block it off, but when the baby is ingesting it it's a totally different story.  Those radiation are the most harmful.

radiation from microwaved water? Gimme a break! What on earth are you referring to? Alpha? Beta? Gamma ray?

Microwave is just high power radio signal that excites the molecules to bombard each other faster, thus generating heat (or heat up the food). The moment you cut off the power source, molecules will stop bombarding.

If you are one of those conspiracy therorists then you may disregard my scientific explanation.

Afterall, what else is new under the sun these days?!?

*sarcastic grin*

Yeah...u should read more about microwave before making such un-educated (False) comments.  However, I don't suggest using microwave for many other reasons.  In the case of using microwave sterilizer, there is currently a study about how heat may make the plastic bottle releasing higher amount of toxic.  Microwave seems to be the worst method on that list.

I had a friend lost her limb due to accident from microwave related to normal heating.
She had a wound b4 the incident and the stuff from microwave spilled on her old wound. wound got worse the next day, and then her whole limb needs to be removed.
Yeah of course it is a non-ionizing decay and thus none of the alpha, beta and gamma ray above.

a rock-solid face doesn't have to be proved by a rock scientist. IT just happens Mr. civilized.

say it a false comment or whatever, but it happens, and 1 time is enough

I definitely agree with that one.

Finally I know someone who are doing the same as mine!  Cos some of my friends still sterilize even if their kids are now 2....

on top, I'll only apply heat to GLASS bottles;

microwave, steam, hot water ... I won't use any of that to touch plastic.

even if the manufacturer says it's ok, I don't trust them.

Just my opinion.
