Oh and I almost forgot:
(1) IMHO in spite of all the complaints/shortcomings (e.g. long wait-times, etc.) about or Canadian public healthcare systems, our system is "controlled" , meaning that you cannot jump the queue even if you have money (unlike other countries, such as France, etc.)
In other words: no matter how much $$ you have and willing to spend to jump the queue, the system won't let you.
(2) As my family approaching a certain demographic age group: I see more illness-related incidents where we have to rely on our healthcare system. Me and my family have yet to encounter once RE: long wait times, oftentimes incident from the time when you approach GP (i.e. cancer-related) to the time it was on the surgery table, etc. was less than 2 wks time, never for once needed to jump the queue or bypass someone/hierarchy.
Am I satisfied with our healthcare system? Absolutely. Are there any faults or rooms for improvements, yes, indeed!
Our systems have been able to retain much of the knowledgeable, "experienced" experts in their related fields that I must say that we are blessed with so much good doctors surrounding us.
The only country where literacy and good medical systems would be cuba. But then again: there are other issues in Cuba also...
