BTW, the Kitty Hawk battalion was not even trying to hide from storms. They were just trying to dock in HK for the Thanksgiving holiday. Kudos to China for sending this political message to the bully. Like you said, money is not everything. Making a few beer $$ from these drunken sailors is not everything.

You still do not get it. This is political posturing. You said before that China should care less about making money and more about standing up for its rights. Now, China is standing up against the big bully over issues related to Taiwan, Tibet and many other aspects. You cannot have it both ways. You need not worry about those hitech US warships. Those ships were refuelled in international waters. How else could they go home without refuelling? There was no need to enter HK.

In addition, who knows if there are any spies among those drunken US sailors. The US fleet were already trying to snoop up all the radio waves.

It was reported that the US Navy was denied access to Hong Kong due to military exercises in China. Also, military C17 flights to resupply the consulate in HK was denied for the same reason.

hard to say.. maybe they dont want drunken soldiers causing problems and social unrest.. the americans already have enough trouble in japan.

also.. probably the chinese government realizes that letting them into the harbour is really "no face"..
think about who's selling military weapons to taiwan, japan, and korea? also who "mistakenly" bombed the chinese embassy in Yugoslavia?

Dont forget.. right now china is surrounded by American allies.. The leadership doesn't feel comfortable.
