Greece Advice?

Thinking of going to Greece? Still in early planning stage.  Don't really know where to start looking.  Anyone been there and has advice?

I was thinking about going, but since the political condition over there is not good at the moment, better to put my plan aside.

I went there in June 2010, just been to Athens, Mykonos and Santorini. Greece is the most romantic and fabulous place i have been to. I start with choosing the month I wanna go, choose the places, pick the possible dates. Please note the greece domestic flights in summer start sale now or Feb, unless you wanna take all ferries. I took flights back/to Athens from islands to save time.

In terms of the political concerns, I think the media is being a bit exaggerated. Greek is always laid back and they always go on strike just like the other Europeans on a regular basis. You will always risk that some transportation will be possibly on strike.

Travel on a weekend is normally safe, they don't tend to be on strike on weekends.
Anyway, we had a wonderful trip and we will return to Greece for sure.

Instead of spending time here, tripadvisor forum is the best place to start with your planning. To make your trip memorable, don't cheap out on the hotel, max your budget to get the best possible hotel. It's just unbelievably gorgeous to have caldera ocean view from your private terrace

Thanks Tsumorichisato.

Which airline did you take from here to Athens?  And you mention Greek domestic flight which companies shall I look into?

Domestic airlines are Aegean Airline and Olympic Air. Not sure if they merged yet but was hearing they were supposed to .....I took air transat connecting thru Paris, cuz I was traveling to Paris also

What i mean is I have round trip tickets to Paris with Air Transat, then I booked tickets with Aegean and Olympic Air to/from Athens, Santorini/Mykonos.  In between Mykonos to Santorini I took ferry.
