Alleged 'loophole' lets stores change best-before date

http://www.ctvbc.ctv.ca/servlet/ ... BritishColumbiaHome

Blah... can't find the old thread, so this is the follow up.

I don't know...

I mean, they guessed a date upon packaging, for how long the food will be good for. They come and revisit and check the item and see that it's still good... If they are not allowed to change the 'best before' date, then the food probably will go past the 'best before' date, nobody will buy it even tho it's still good... A waste of food, lost of profit for the store, and will make food prices end up to be higher for the end consumer.

Obviously, allowing them to change the 'best before' date can lead to abuse, like changing the date further along even tho the food have went bad, etc...

I guess it depends on what kind of guidelines retailers are supposed to follow when estimating 'best before' dates and whether the guidelines is any accurate in predicting when the food really should not be consumed.
