A tax should be imposed on soft drinks and the sale of the beverages should be banned from federal buildings, according to a health group that made its case to members of Parliament Thursday.
Often referred to as a "soda tax," the group is advocating that an excise tax of one cent per litre be added in order to reduce consumption and thereby help fight the rising number of Canadians who are overweight or obese. |
