Vancouver records third homicide of 2011 after man stabbed to death



VANCOUVER - Vancouver police are investigating the city's third homicide of the year after a man was fatally stabbed late Wednesday night.


In a new release issued this morning, police said that just after 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, they responded to a call of a man with a knife near Carrall Street and East Hastings.


They found a man on West Pender suffering from stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.


Police arrested a man in connection with the incident, but say it is too early to say what precipitated the violent altercation.


The age and identity of the victim has not been confirmed, police said in the release.
