I don't know if 'common law status' is being recognized in Hong Kong. If you look at all those quotation marks by the writer,
「夫妻」「哎吔女婿」「成家立室」「女婿」「妻子」
there were all pretty much referring to only one thing
i.e. common law relationship
From my 'Canadian' pov, that should not be taken into the account for the death. But if it is true in Hong Kong that common law relationship is not being recognized, legally or socially I don't know. then sure. It could become some kind of a pressure in that particular setting & it's probably worth to be quoted, not as a stereotype but a social phenomenon. |
