COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) - People living near a hungry bobcat in Coquitlam shouldn't expect conservation staff to come and remove it.
Officers say it poses a miniscule threat to people and they won't be relocating the animal.
Geraldine Lazaruk lives near Miller Park and spotted the bobcat on Wednesday.
"It was actually stalking a cat, " she says.
"My mail carrier, who happened to be coming around right at that time, phoned her boss immediately and she ended up having her husband on the walk yesterday," adds Lazaruk.
"It's very scary is what it is. I would rather encounter a bear anytime rather than a wild cat like that," she says.
But Conservation Service Sergeant Murray Smith still says they're not going to come and remove it.
"If people have concerns, they should keep their children close by and keep them in the house and that, and make sure they're monitored when they're outdoors," he says.
"If there was any threat to our community it would be to pets, which would [mainly] involve, primarily, cats. Other than that it's just a nice opportunity to see wildlife close to our neighbourhood," says Smith. |
