RICHMOND (NEWS1130) - The Foreign Affairs Department is telling Canadians in England to be aware of the unpredictable nature of riots.
A note from Foreign Affairs Canada to those bound for London and its outlying areas acknowledges the unrest and calls the situation unpredictable, warning it could spread even further.
News1130 spoke with one man at YVR who has decided to go ahead with his trip. He's flying to London today, but tells us he will pay close attention to his surroundings:
"Now that I think of it, it makes me wonder what it's going to be like once I get there, because I'm going by myself and I don't know what I'm expecting now."
"I grew up in Detroit, there are always riots there," says another man. "I'm not really intimidated by people."
But even he is quick to add he'll avoid big crowds and areas prone to trouble. For the most part, travellers agree they'll keep their heads down and their wits about them. Many also say a warning from Foreign Affairs like this one serves as a good reminder to be mindful of the tensions and politics of other countries. |
