Police said Tuesday they have arrested a 50-year-old teacher in Kanagawa Prefecture for allegedly paying a 15-year-old girl for a sex act in February of this year. The suspect was identified as Koichi Ishizaki, a teacher at a public junior high school in Yokohama.
According to a Fuji TV report, he is alleged to have met the then junior high school third-grader through a matchmaking website. Ishizaki is accused of committing indecent acts with her at his home on Feb 3 in exchange for 30,000 yen. During police questioning, he allegedly told investigators he was lonely and said he he didn’t know whether or not the girl was 15, Fuji reported.
The Kanagawa Board of Education has responded by expressing regret for the incident. It issued a statement saying it will deal with the teacher appropriately, once details of the case are confirmed.
