sorry to hear that... i think animal clinics that opens 24 hours usually try to put a lot of additional costs on instead of really doing the best for dogs.. my dog (she) passed away over a week ago after one visit to intercity emergency clinic. She was having problems breathing and had a seizure suddenly at night. I took her to the intercity animal emergency clinic on marine drive. she was not given anything to treat her breathing. I felt she was in pain. She was suffering for over almost 1 hours before she was treated. At first, the vet recommended doing blood test, x ray, ultrasound, online radiologist consultant and etc and said he had to do all these before he could treat her probably. so on and on.. he was saying my dog was probably having heart disease or lung disease or even tumors in her brain... so i waited and waited ... got everything done. He told me he consulted the online radiologist that my dog was not having heart disease, but instead might be liver problems or fluid in her lung.BUT HE WAS NOT SURE WHAT IT WAS.. i did agree that she probably had some fluid in her lung after sudden seizure... anyway, he recommended additional tests, but i want my dog to be at least treated first. my dog's tongue almost turn purple because of lack of oxygen. He put my dog in the oxygen case, did ivf, morphine shot... so my dog stayed there overnight. i picked her up in the morning. she looked calm i guess because of the morphine shot. i was told she would probably be living longer for 6 months or so...she was given nothing, no medication. anyway, she died the next day at home. and i got a bill of 1xxx+ i was quite pissed. not only about the charges, but the way that my dog was treated. When we arrived at the emergency clinic, she was put there not treated for so long plus when we asked, the vet said there is no medication... nothing. and saying oh, she will be ok.... i asked the vet a few times if we can get some medication at least to treat her when she is in pain or what, he said no medication, but at that time i really know she was suffering. she was breathing really hard. she couldn't even stand. anyway, just be careful where to bring your pet to... i didn't have many options as it was at late night. i really felt sorry for my dog. |
