VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - There's a first for everything; today, Christy Clark's cleavage is making headlines in Victoria. The big question is whether it's the dress or the reaction from a former NDP MLA that's inappropriate.
A beige blazer and navy knee-length dress with a V-shaped neckline; what's stylish business attire to most is too much for David Schreck, who's gone public with his concerns on Twitter.
"Is Premier Clark's cleavage revealing attire appropriate for the legislature?" he tweeted yesterday afternoon.
Perhaps the sauciest comeback comes from Province columnist Michael Smyth, who advises Schrek to "stop ogling the premier's goodies like a dirty old man, and get back to the real issues of the day."
His sentiments are echoed on Vancouver streets:
"I think people have nothing better to talk about or think about," says one woman. "Let's talk about politics; let's talk about real life."
"Are we supposed to be wearing turtlenecks?" a man questions. "Who makes the rules? Is there a dress code? Or an un-dress code?"
In the raging online debate between pundits, the Liberal camp calls Schreck a sexist dinosaur and some members of the party have accused the NDP of trying to undermine the premier because she's a woman.
He tweeted back: "She crosses the line & needs 2 b called on it." |
