This thread is about blue fin tuna, not shark fin.

The Japanese are doing nothing to remedy this blue fin tuna situation.

We, the Chinese, are already advocating the ban of shark fin.
As most shark fin soup, a dish from southern cuisine, are consumed in Hong Kong and Hong Kong people are now advocating the ban of shark fin in banquets, the situation is moving in the right direction.

But the Japanese blue fin tuna situation is worrisome, as they are unethical and so shameful.

They killed so many whales for sashimi and this is another worrisome situation. The Japanese are total liars. They claimed they hunt whales for scientific research, but in fact they are hunting for whale sashimi.

HK = 7M population
PRC = 1.3B population

News report from TVB, Now, etc. have all said that it is PRC that consumes over 90% of the world's shark fins. HK and TW only amount to a small percentage of the consumption both because of a significantly smaller population and because of higher awareness of the cruelty involved in shark fin harvesting.

Yao Ming advocating against eating shark fins is true, but in PRC, serving shark fins is a form of showing off your wealth, and it only happens all too frequently in the rich man banquets as well as the ones where the bill is taken care of by Grandfather.

Don't spew any of your nonsense when they are obviously false!!!

The shark fin is mostly a southern cuisine. People in the interior and northern China don't eat shark fin.
The Chinese are moving in he right direction, the Japanese are not.

If you do not understand Chinese culture, please do some research.
In China, traditionally people mainly eat their regional cuisines, other regional cuisines are not popular.

Especially in northern parts of China and the interior parts like Sichuan and Qinghai, where people are far away the seas. Those interior Chinese cuisines do not feature shark fins. In western and north eastern parts of China where the weather is cold, the cuisine is mainly wheat and a lot of starch foods. People are mainly concerned about getting enough calories, not sea food of any type.
