Makes no difference where you are, Disney's new ship can hoodwink you
Makes no difference where you are, Disney's new ship can hoodwink you
It even has digital portholes for inside cabins that can offer ocean views
Disney Cruise Line (www.disneycruise.com) saw its newest ship, the Disney Fantasy, inch one step closer to reality last weekend as the last 265-tonne construction block was added to the ship's bow at the Meyer-Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, completing the ship's exterior design phase.
Although Disney Fantasy will be a sister-ship to the recently launched Disney Dream, she won't just be a clone of her predecessor. Instead, Disney's newest ship aims to carve out a unique identity for herself through the use of new designs, features and amenities.
At 1,115 feet in length and towering a massive 14 decks above the waterline, there's no shortage of space or activities onboard. Guests can look forward to a new innovative show for the Animator's Palette Restaurant where characters drawn by guests magically spring to life, and even a brand new, Broadway-style production titled Disney's Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular. If there is one area Disney doesn't skimp on, it's definitely their spectacular production numbers.
Oh, and did we mention the ultracool inside staterooms that feature a "digital porthole" that is wired in to a live view from cameras mounted to the exterior of their ship? Leave it to Disney to make these lower-grade staterooms desirable again.
Disney Fantasy even boasts new features and amenities designed just for adults, too.
The ship will have a dedicated "adults only" district known as "Europa," featuring bars and lounges inspired by European travel. Indulge in a pint in the Irish-themed O'Gill's Pub, or kick back and relax in the aptly-named "Skyline Bar," featuring ever-changing views of Europe's most famous cities.
Of course, the ship will still feature the AquaDuck, an enormous, glass-enclosed waterslide that criss-crosses Disney Fantasy's upper decks. The kids will love it and frankly, so will the adults.
When Disney Cruise Line first set sail in 1998, it would have been simple for the line to chase after the hard-earned dollars of parents everywhere by providing an irresistible experience tailored only for kids.
But instead the line chose to create both ships and an onboard program that remains highly sought after by adults, too.
Disney Fantasy is the evolution of the Disney Cruise Line product, and frankly the ship launch we're most excited about for 2012. |
