Expectation to have with grand-parents <> Grand-kids

I have 2 kids.  a 4.5yrs and a 1.5yrs, the only grandchildrens in both side of the family.  Sadly, my concepts of how Grandparents are like, and how they treat their grandchildren are learned mostly from TVB.

If you have young kids, and your parents are here or in HK.  would you please share your experience.

I don't have kids but seeing how my inlaws are with my nephew is frustrating. There are a lot of tensions with the kid's parents. Old fashion and uneducated knowledge vs new generation's way of raising kid conflicts! The worst part is they all live under the same roof! The kid already knew how to manipulate all the adults at age 2! The only common that the patents and grandparents have is spoiling the kid rotten! His toys occupied 3 bedrooms in the house! I hope they realize this kind of environment does more harm than good!

The challenge I am facing is a little diff.  Both my wife and I are expecting more love and care from their grandparents, but at time, we felt like our kids aren't as welcome, because grandparents are too busy with their own friends.

如果兩邊都九代單傳，通常D祖父母都好疼D細路。依你既描述，我認為你兩夫婦都好小假手于人，試下多D比佢地單獨相處既機會。
