Volco charges $25 each for my 17". They are pretty quick at it as 4 guys are working together on the same guy. Balance is all done by the machine, if your rims are good quality, it would take much less time to balance than say some cheap rims which they are not in perfect circles to begin with.

pkphilip: thought u have stockers? $25 is a little bit too deep, can almost do run flat with that price lol

traum: i have heard new type mitsubishi in RMD has a good machine to do that, but take it there at ur own risk; Super Racing has a good machine to mount those huge bling bling but they scratched my friend's 5 series's 20" when installing it back onto the car; i think MCL is the other one with very good machine to do those huge rims, but they will charge u an arm and a leg, but they will probably warranty if anything happens...

i think PDM racing in bby also has a good machine, but they take forever to do wheels, took my evo regamaster there long time ago they couldn't even balance it, says my rims is too light wor...lol...

mcl doesn't install tires (i don't know why)but send to the tire shop just underneath grandville bridge which charges $50 more for each tire. also one tire stung with a small nail and the air was escaping, mcl didn't repair it too. so i had to drive to the old canadian tire near burrard st. and 2nd ave. unfortunately, they didn't have equipment big enough to jack up the cayenne. fianlly, i had it fixed in the new one on cambie st. and 6th ave.

The reason why I went to Volco is not about the price, it's the quality of service. Kal, Fountain, Costco are slightly cheaper but they can't guarantee they don't scratch rims. I also doubt they will be dealing with aftermarket rims a lot. Since Volco has been in the business for a long time, and they deal with expensive cars a lot. They take care in things they do.

Last time when I brought my car to my friend's shop, it took them about 1.5 hours for 1 guy to install my winter tires on my stock rims. It took Volco 20 min for 4 guys to put my OE tires and balance my new rims. Eventhough I have to go back the next day because one of them wasn't balanced well, they re-do it for free.

As far as I was told, not all the shops are equipped to deal with high-end mag rims as the machine to do so is quite expensive. Some machines just does not have the power to deal with anything that is smaller than 50 series tires.

I think it's wise to go to a place that is reputable in doing high-end stuff.

Surprisingly, when I asked Metrotown Mazda to put back my summer tires back on. They did a much better job in balancing them than Volco.

i thought MCL had that machine, maybe it's broken or sold ~ not worth their techinician's time to do the work?!

well i guess lots of the time it depends how the techinician setup the machine, if they are willing to spend time; i have fixed many high speed shaking after friends got their tires balanced from stealership before, even it was just 15" aftermarket wheels for 1.6EL (205/50), not to mention the machine my old shop had was over 10 years old and barely serviced, i could balance my EVO Regamaster myself too (just dun wanna mount as it might scrape off the paint)...

yet i did my friend's 16" BBS for GC and other better wheels with that ****ty old tire machine too, worked and never had a problem...
