世界自然基金會的報告指出，如果人類都採用日本人的飲食生活習慣，需要1.6個地球的資源才能滿。

報告說，日本國內可供應的僅佔24%，其餘則依靠從美國和中國等其他國家進口。

報告稱，如果人類都採用日本人的飲食生活方式，計算結果顯示，到2050年時將需要1.64個地球的資源才能滿足，這一狀態是無法持續下去的。

報告中的日本分部稱，在日本，大量食物被浪費，僅減少這些食物浪費就可在食品生產方面為地球減輕四分之一的負擔。

Can't open the English version.

But for sure Japanese waste a lot on packaging...

and they also like perfect fruit and vegetables. I saw a lot of imperfect one on the sale rack. Also I remember seeing baskets of strawberries in perfect shape and uniform size.

plus they import a lot of their food. So that adds carbon footprints to their food supply.
