BTW Cayanne,

I check out some of the used Cayanne (2 of them).  The both have problems.!  Noisy fan on one, and the other one has the park brake light on, it took some time to car rip of it...!

Checking info online, and found that the 1st generation Cayannes do seem to have all sort of problems..!  I am not sure about the newer generation!

None of the above. If u spend so much money mind as well buy a cheapo 4x4 and a fast car or sedan.

500HP in the mud, are you going for the Mud bog thing?
Range Rover the engine is dated, originally came from a 60s Buick.
Is nothing wrong except it had been enlarged a few times.
Pretty soon may go into the hands of India's Tatra or Mahindra motors.
SInce Ford just cannot afford them.
RR's reliability is not squeaky clean, lots of deficiencies.

We got a Cayenne S, X5 4.8 and Q7 4.2 in my family, all 3 of them are mainly for traveling to china.

i still prefer the Cayenne over the rest, the characteristic is just much more sporty, and drives more like a car compare to the others.  But we didnt order air suspension for our cayenne, which was a big mistake.  the ride is harsher then my M3.  since our cayenne came with 20" rims and the steel suspension is set at a pretty stiff level.    the V8 on the cayenne sounds fabulous.  much better then the V8 in audi or BMW.  also so far its been very reliable

In the Q7, we opted for the air sus, and this truck is alot more comfortable.  but the engine and handling cant be compared with the Cayenne.   not to mention the Q7 is alot larger and seats 7.  The Q7 is also the most problematic.  we had it for about 2 months, and wipers didnt work, the rear hatch wont close, the driver seat rail got stuck and alot of smaller problems.

We just took delivery of the X5 2 weeks ago.  it feels a little bit slower then the cayenne, but alot more high tech. comfort is about the same. i guess the only reason it feels high tech is maybe the navigation actually works in the BMW....

Chec ...

Yes, the cayennes up to 2006 had problems (mainly technical/electronic problems), but those problems have been corrected since the 07 versions.

I find it interesting that quite a lot of people like the Q7.  If people are willing to spend that much money, why not get a SUV from mercedes, bmw, or porsche?

VW Toureg Diesel

Now that's a good off-roader

Mad Torque, Dakar Proven (Since Mitsubishi's Pajero isn't available)

But then the Pope has a G, so I guess it's cool too

cayenne is the same as touareg, but alot faster

^ Same Chassis yes, not engine

Since you put it that way why would i want to pay more for the same thing?

Depends on your usage, the Cayenne isn't a good off-roader with the large wheels and the low profile summer tires

The Toureg just has a more all-season rugged-ness to it, plus I don't like how the Cayenne looks

the porsche engine is alot better and interior is alot nicer then the VW

Here's my short assessment and opinion of those that came along with me on the drive of the Range Rover Vogue 3.6L TDi, Audi Q7 3.0 TDi, MB GL500, BMW X5 3.0si...

Essentially, Q7 is a bucket of poo. It was the least driven by everyone (thus was the cleanest), the worse steering, worse ride, poor suspension control (to the point it was like it was on water at highway speeds), had poor approach and departure angles, though the engine was good for the weight.

Next up on the list, the Range Rover. It did everyone RR does including having electrical glitches but it rode nicely, was comfortable, great pull of the engine below 80km/h. Offroad it was great. Suspension articulations was great. On road, it felt good as well as a truck of this size goes. 20" wheels help a lot.

The MB GL500 was the next. One of my favourites really and probably my best. Ride was comfy, controlled, sports setting was good too. On soft sand, it wasn't the best but wasn't the worse. Engine however is sensational. The amount of go in a size like this is amazing. Steering felt great too with the right feel though I'd only wish it would unwind itself more

Everyone else's best was the X5. Did struggle in soft sand with low ground clearance, but was the most fun on and on hard sand. Engine loves to rev and the steering felt tight. Possibly too tight.
