that happened to me once.
it was a small surgery on my leg and the doctor thought he just needed to cut out the top layer of my skin, but somehow the cyst was connected to another one deeper in my skin and the 麻醉藥 injected was not enough. I could not feel the cyst on top but the bottom one totally.
this happened to me when I had my son...I had already had an epidural for 20 hours so my body was no longer reacting to the 麻醉藥...anyways during the surgery, I was kept awake the whole time but could not move...but the 麻醉藥 started to fade. I could feel them cutting me up, pulling the baby out and then sewing me back together. I kept throwing up liver bile because it was so painful. I also kept yelling and telling them that I can feel everything and they just tried to add more 麻醉藥 to me but it still didn't work. In the end, they tell me that the 麻醉藥 might not have gone to the right nerves...and that yes, it was successful in making me immobile but not numb.
trust me, it was a nightmare to know and feel EVERY SINGLE cut and stitch...I was crying and throwing up on the surgery table but I was tied down so I could not move.
it's actually more common than reported....just that no one really goes to the newspapers to report these things. the hospital knows about what happened to me that time but all they will do is assure that it will never happen to me again. Next time I go in for any surgery, they have it on file that they will try to put me to sleep instead of being awake and numb.
