五華人就有一人抽菸

據最近一期出版的加拿大心臟病醫學期刊顯示，經過調查，目前居住在安省及卑詩省的華人，每五人中就有一人抽菸，比率高達20%。

對居住在加拿大的居民而言，抽菸會大大提高罹患心血管疾病的機會，並是造成中風的主要原因之一。此外，由於靜脈中血小板製造功能遭到破壞，影響所及，將提高血液凝塊、血壓、及減少血液中含氧量的風險。

目前擔任卑詩省心臟健康計畫主管的心臟病學專家李威信表示，以他輔導戒菸的個案，在華裔菸民中，大部分為移民身分，且大都是在來加拿大之前，就已有吸菸的習慣，而抽菸在中國是很普遍的現象。

在李威信的檔案中，目前接受戒菸輔導的菸民男性大約是80%，女性約佔20%。而戒菸成功的比率則無法按照性別來區分，目前也沒有數字顯示男性較容易戒菸，或女性戒菸成功比例較高。反倒是戒菸者身處的家庭環境及工作環境，都是決定戒菸成功與否的主要因素之一。

他舉例說明，如果一位戒菸者在診所內面對醫生時，信誓旦旦的說要戒菸，但當回到工作場所且四周的同事都在吸菸，則戒菸的信心很容易就被摧滅，而這種戒菸失敗的案例，在來自中國的移民中相對普遍。

另外，在一個家庭中，如果夫妻兩人都吸菸，當妻子想戒菸，但丈夫卻天天三餐飯後照樣吞雲吐霧，則戒成功的機率亦大大降低。

在政府及各相關組織的大力宣導之下，戒菸運動漸漸受到重視，且各式各樣的戒菸方式，減低了戒菸的困難度。目前市面上戒菸的方式有很多種，包括貼片、尼古丁口香糖、及藥物治療等，成效則因人而異。總體上而言，不論是貼片或是吃藥，一個月所需的費用，都會比買香菸所用的花費更便宜。

李威信進一步表示，在戒菸的過成程中，戒菸者必須要下最大的決心來面對尼古丁的成癮性，否則不但需要日復一日的向醫生求助，自己更容易因為戒菸的失敗而一再陷入情緒的低潮，對自己喪失信心。

NEVER touch it ever again.. lol

I don't smoke and don't mind friend smoke (not in front of me because I can't stand the smell). But in terms of bf/husband.....100% can't smoke!

小弟細個既時候發過誓寧願食屎都唔會去食煙的.

我有個姑丈，食咗三，四十年煙，一日起碼一包，從來無人會諗過佢會戒煙。幾年前，佢個大哥lung cancer，佢睇住佢大哥點辛苦，之後，我姑丈真係戒咗。你話啦，一個食咗幾十年煙嘅人都戒到，可想而知cancer對佢嚟講幾震撼。

另外，有一次睇到個tv show，唔記得個名係咩勒，內容係講啲法醫點幫助破案，真人真事，個法醫話佢咩死者嘅尊容都見過，唔會覺得係咩一回事，唯獨是lung cancer嘅死者嘅lung，佢就話好disgusting。

我亞爸以前都食煙，後來年紀大咗，食親煙都喉嚨痛，所以都戒咗。講真，父母無得揀，男朋友／老公有得揀，我真係唔想佢嘅健康因為咁樣而expose to greater risk，話我自私都好，我唔想佢為咗食煙攪到身體唔好，行先一步丟低我囉。
