Thanks! The card it not too girly in a way and it's good to give it to a guy.. and that's why I choose this colour.
Also, this pattern paper I got it from walmart. (The $10 for 100 sheets)

Btw, I noticed that in many of your cards you used some unusual colour combo. Say this card stock (floral paper) is in grayish blue with some dark burgandy red accent. And the main subject (the heart) and the border besides are both in brighter spectrum (bright red/pink). This is rather unusual. Some times it will give a striking effect; other times they are just "hard" to match. And of course, beauty especially art is rather subjective so it's just my little BS here.  Just my 0.0000000000000002 cents.

Yeah, I don't even know how/why I do that for most of my cards. This time, I purposely used the grey/blue with pink/red as a contrast because I didn't want to use too much pink/red as for a V*day card since it's for a guy. Therefore, I was just picking some grey/blue colours as the background and make the heart more stand out in the middle this time =P

So you mean the design? or?

I enter some card challenges and they have their sketches. I basically follow their sketches and then find my own pattern papers and yeah.... hahahaha.. I think out of most of the cards I've made, I like this one the most.

Like Fibbi's saying, my 0.00000000002 cents:
You combined few patterns on 1 card, I guess that's what something other than Fibbi mentioned about colour combo.  Floral, strips, and the die cut combined added to that striking effect.  Well may be, I like simpler cards.  I keep myself focusing on 1 or max 2 accents on the card, and the others are background supporting that accents, trying to keep others from taking away visual point from it.  It's just my little thought about it and yeah art is very subjective, hope you don't mind.

Btw, I think the design (layout) is great! Different element coordinates well.
I guess I like both busy pattern (such as this one: ) and simple pattern (like this one: ).
It just that if there is grayish blue, if I were to use a "striking" colour, the red or pink I would use is darker tone red or pink.

Now that I think...maybe the camera and lighting also makes a difference... sometimes the photo doesn't really represent the true colour in real....

Thanks fibbi and claichan! Thanks for the tips! Like i like the design but I do still find it a little weird... it looks kinda 'messy' in a way yet the same is cool. =P

I will try to stick with not too many differe pattern papers and see how the result would be like =)

Did you make those cards Fibbi?  Nice!  The second one looks like Japanese ones, simple but not plain.  Do you know how to make that wrinkle edge?  I so want a sewing machine to sew my cards!
BTW, Yes lighting when taking cards is very important I find.  I still cannot take nice pictures like this.  I even thought about buying a light box just to take card pictures.  (another $99)

No those cards are from the flickr group.
Have you tried out Picasa software? It's free and very easy to use. You can adjust the lighting of the image by dragging the line. Very easy. It also has "auto fix" to boost up the contrast. Pretty neat!

Maybe there's too many bright reds going on in your card.  I think for me, instead of using the red glitter dots beside the heart stamp.  I think I'll use a clear diamond colour glitter.  I like one part that you've tried to match the center border piece with the left side triangles.  It's kind of like how those brand bags companies matches the patterns for the corner or the sides of their leather/fabric bags.

Hm... I have installed it but never make use of it.  I should try it sometime.  I did use the Microsoft office pictures at work to change the lighting but sometime kind of strange (if you go to my blog, you can see those Christmas card pictures, some of them are very red....)  I gotta play around,  but taking pictures in natural light (during the day) is definitely the least complicated.

Yes, the quality is actually quite good and it's thicker and it's pretty nice! The pick I got is the last pack =p
