Just wanna ask any LYK use UPS as a shipping courier before?
or receive parcels that was send by UPS before?
if yes, do they charge brokage fee everytime on everything?
cos last time i bought a jacket online and it was sent by UPS, end up they charge me $40
my frd taught me to clear customs myself, have to run back and forth,
but that saved me $30, it was only $9 sth when i clear customs myself
now i just ordered sth online again and find out they're using UPS again,
so just want to know if they charge brokage fee everytime

can any lyk share their experience?
thanks thanks

Not all UPS charges brokerage. If you use anything other than UPS standard, brokerage fee is included.

Therefore, I usually use UPS worldwide savers for high priced, but light items, avoiding other services. Even USPS charges brokerage.

I have used UPS just once.  Last time I bought something from the US (about US$40) and chose UPS Worldwide Expedited.  They only charge me PST/GST upon delivery and nothing for brokage fee.

Correct me if I'm wrong.  I think the Expedited is the more expensive shipping option but there won't be any surprise brokage fee.

Edited: Oh, lerico already provided the link in his post.

UPS Ground (Standard) is subject to brokerage. Use FedEx or other carrier will save the hassle.

I have tried FedEx, even worse. They send you a bill for tax and brokerage a week later. USPS (CanadaPost) charges about $7 brokerage per $100 last time I use it.

If u do have account with UPS, and have discount, they should not charge that much of fees.

If you want to avoid brokerage fees with most major shipping companies, make sure the declared value of the item is $20 or less. Then they won't charge a brokerage fees unless it's a taxable item like clothes.

Otherwise, your best bet is USPS/Canada Post which charges the least amount

Send to Point Robert, pick it up and clear custom yourself.

I've heard about this place before, but how does it work? Do I need to notify them before I order stuff and ship there?

My colleague used this place many times.  I was told that before you order, you have to call your Credit Card company and add the Point Roberts Shop as your additional address.  Otherwise, most shops won't ship to an unregistered address.
