Amm... I've been to Qualicum Beach area years ago in the summer. I remember seeing lots of eagles and there are lots of small artist studio in the area.

Not sure what to do now, since weather is kinda of unstable... May be they have something at their website:

Thanks.
I know it's pretty early in the year to go there. I just want to be by the beach and have a nice relaxing day. Any extra activity would be like "bonus".
My first choice would be Oregon Coast but it's too long drive for 2 days (need 3 days at least to go to Oregon coast). And Tofino is too expensive (yeah I want nice resort-like acoomodation this time) and probably nothing much to see except WIND and cold.
I book this hotel and the room looks decent:

And do you think I should pay extra to "reserve" the spot for the BC Ferry?
(weekend)
thanks

i went during july
stayed at tigh na mara resort
it's right by the beach, so it's fairly nice.
during low tides, u can walk pretty far into the "water"..

went to the market place with the goat on the roof
the market place had lots of food to eat..
there were shops besides the market place (i think.. or we drove?? don't remember). those little shops had stuff to see..

went to a museum too.. where butterflies fly right beside you... and there was a big sand turtle that tried so hard to escape out of its home.. haa!

i was only there for 2 days 1 nite and it was a lot of fun!

The market place with the goat on the roof top is "The Old Country Market" at Coombs. If you are going there, then I think you should also visit
the Catheral Grove. (let me google to see how far they are) We went to TOCM in 2007 on the way to Port Alberni/Tofino.And We really like the food there. I hope it's still good now.

From google map, Cathedral Grove (located in MacMillan Provincial Park) is only about 35 min drive from Parksville. BUT it may no be the thing to do for a spa and resort kind of trip. May be you can leave it for next time. It's more like a short hike (very flat kids friendly). And the tall trees were featured at the Olympic opening

I did go to the Market but it's too "cold" for the goat to stay on the roof so I saw it at the back of the market place la. Quite some interesting thing there. I saw a corner dedicated for Japanese product. Wonder a lot of Japanese visitors there or Japanese actually live there??

Anyway, I'm very satisfied with the hotel. I would like to go back during summer when weather is nice.

Forgot tripod but the hotel looks nice at night too.

I booked the one bedroom suite and there is a living room, kitchen (I did cook there) and bedroom. There is a powder room as well! (so 2 washroom!)

View from the hotel room:

There is a "board walk"(sp?) outside the hotel and it lights up pretty at night.
