o係屋企食飯我係有自己一對私家筷子的, 咁算唔算自備筷子?

I usually bring my own take out containers for left over food whenever I dine out. Actually 自備筷子 is a good idea too, but only applicable for those places that use disposable chopsticks.

i do at work. I actually have thought about that but haven't done so yet. But when I get take out lunch back to my office, I usually tell the restaurant that I don't need the disposable ones.

When we were in Taiwan, we bought a few pairs of reuserable steel chopsticks back. They were so handy that we actually want more as gifts for friends. A few years ago, we did see some in T&T, but we now cannot find them anymore.

are you talking about the ones that can be taken apart into 2 equal halves? the middle part has helical ridges like a screw/bolt and can be put together to become a typical length chopstick. i didn't have to buy it. i went to a hotpot place in taipei and they give them out for free. it's common in other restaurants to give them out too. but then, of course, they won't be as nice as the purchased ones.

if you want steel chopsticks, consider those korean ones. they are flat and heavier, and it took time to get used to them. but i really like them. i use them at home

Yes, mine is the steel ones with screw in the middle and comes with a handy pen shaped case. We also have the pull out ones, but the joint is not very strong, but they are very small.

We have the fixed korean ones too but they are real heavy and not very handy to carry around.

They steel chopstick is easy to clean, just soak it in water and clean it later.

YOu can buy it in Vancouver 慈濟,  I think they also have plastic bowl with cover as well.
My mom always carries two pair of steel chopsticks that looks like a pen...and can easily slide into a small container. Perfect to put in purses ga.

Do people stare at you when you pull out your own chopsticks at the restaurants?

There is some very modern titanium chopsticks.  Light and sturdy, less chance to have chemical reaction than stainless steel.
Some are even retractable too.  When you bring it out, you can impress the girl next table.
