I'm looking for a part time driver to drive my grandmother around 1-2 times a week around richmond to do some grocery shopping..wher would be a good place to look or good place to post an ad for this service?

Since my grandmother decided not to move back to hk, she plans on living alone at age of 82 in Vancouver.  I'm trying to find info on helping my grandmother find some goverment assistance but I'm kind of clueless on this area.

Since 'seniors assisted living' has a waiting time for ONE year...I just want to make sure she will be safe and in case of emergency someone will be able to help her.

Any suggestions would be great thanks

Have you considered asking her to live at a senior home? If she is already living alone right now, it may not be a bad option for her to think about.

Places like Richmond Grace Senior Home (天恩頤康院) don't seem that bad at all.

you can try HandyDART CUSTOM TRANSIT, they will drive your grandmum to shopping or dr appt.  or... at whenever time she requested.  there is no charge, the fee is paid by government.  hoever when your grandmum orders the service, she has to speak english
she can request social service, someone will drop by couple times a week to help her to do some housework.
if she just need help to do grocery shopping, she can go to safeway.  safeway has delivery service

I went to Success with my grandma today...unfortunately the wait for a senior home is about 3-4 yrs~ and since my grandma is still quite healthy the person that was helping us said that she is probably not eligible for any social service work.  And the only way is probably to hire some caretaker or housekeeper few times a month

i tho you are in HK. So can you arrange to drive your grandma here? (e.g. shopping and doctor appointment)
And for emergency, I think there are alarm monitoring services that have service to call emergency vehicle for you with some kind of device (button or phone special key).

actually I've been living with my grandma since a kid.  But now that I have finished school and going back to Hong Kong to work...I'm trying to make sure she will be alright here by herself.

ic ic. that's what I though initially. Just that you haven't left town yet. Ammm. Do you have very close friend who can help? Or anyone else close to your grandma?
