The greedy Japanese need to comply with the new minimum wages regulations in China. They need to realize that China's surging economy means they need to pay a lot more wages.

These days paying minimum wage is not enough. If you are the boss, you need to pay way more than minimum wage to attract the best skilled workers.

Again, these greedy Japanese need to comply with the new minimum wages regulations in China.

You stupid imbecile. Go fk yourself. I did some more research about this issue. The minimum wage is not enough to attract the best skilled workers.
Even here if you you pay the minimum wage, no fools will work for you.
These Japanese pay above the minimum wage in Japan. These greedy Japanese should also pay above the minimum wage in China.

But probably no people is more greedy than the Vancouver garbage collectors who went on strike for 2 months, asking for way too high wages.

What a ton of nonsense? China never really called itself It is the foreign media that called China
Chinese products are now moving up the value chain. The government and the Chinese companies already knew moving up the value chain is the direction they are taking now.

In this case, will Honda leave China? Probably not, since China is the world largest car market. Where else can they go? India, where there is no stable electricity supply and lousy infrastructure? The Chinese car makers are already taking market share from foreign car makers.

So .. every holiday, people from CHINA go HK to buy stuffs, HK people go CHINA to spend money .. lol

Even pricing in China now, is as good, or even lower then HK, for example, China people love SONY, and price for SONY stuff in CHINA is good .. but still, few of my friends, like to make a trip to HK, and buy there .. I asked "why"? they said they are afraid to buy "FAKE" or "problem" product ...

For the time being and in the near future, China is still quite safe from foreign competition in terms of manufacturing. While it is true that salaries are rising, Chinese manufacturing continues to enjoy two things that are unique (for the moment) compared to other nearby countries:

1) Chinese workers are smart and highly skilled. New workers learn quickly, and the labour force is good at performing complicated assembling where worker skill level is important (electronics, detailed crafts, etc.). Nearby countries such as Vietnam, India, and Pakistan have yet to catch up to the same skill levels as China. But naturally, as time goes on, other countries will catch up to the same skill levels.

2) Chinese workers are extremely hard working. I strongly believe this is a cultural thing, and it may be more difficult for other countries to match China in this aspect. But the flip side of the coin is, the hard working attitudes of Chinese workers are destroying their own work-life balance, as evident by the Foxconn suicides. Hard working is certainly a good trait, but at the levels that Chinese factories force their workers to work at, they are often inhumane.

You need to grasp with the new situation in China. The Chinese economy is more dependent on local consumption than on export. Therefore, rising local wages is becoming less of a factor. For example, China is the largest car market and largest cellphone market in the world. There are other service industries like finance, insurance, eduation etc that are expanding rapidly. The service industry was underestimated and is still underestimated in China, due to their outdated way of counting certain service industries. Their GDP were revised markedly upwards because of adoption of better accounting techniques.

As time goes on, the quality of Chinese brands will become better. Therefore, even if local wages become more expensive, China can still export their high quality products. Investment by foreign manufacturers will become less of a factor since local Chinese manufacturers will increasingly dominate the economy.

Honda, if they are as good as they claim, of course will pay more than the minimum wage. They paid more than minimum wage in Japan and North America, so they should do the same in China.
