Yes, travel cheque, and no charge for travel cheque, and u can exchange them back when you are back to Canada.

The best is, buy US$$ travel cheque.

Say you buy $5,000 US travel cheque, and do exchange in Jap Airport, you dont have to exchange all, and whatever left, (say $1k) then deposit it back to you account in Canada.

^_^

(you get better exchange rate with US$ travel cheque.)

CAD cash to YEN is a very bad idea, as Japanese bank doesn't like Canadian dollars, only a few will do, not to mention it's more expensive

Take USD cash or USD cheques la, usually USD chq has better rates than cash.

an experienced banker told me, Canadian banks' spread is the highest in the world, because big 5 banks (or 6? don't know) have dominated the market so other countries are always exchange better than here... just to make sure you have some small local currency with you (for taxi to hotel, etc.), and do the most foreign exchange in other countries.

There is no service charge when we buy the traveller cheque here?? I can just go to any bank or at my own bank??

well... if you have AE card, Gold or Platinum visa/mastercard, or has service package with your bank, it's free, otherwise is 2 or 2.5% or something, you better check with your bank. I only know they don't charge you if you cannot finish them and deposit back to your bank account.
作者: Catpiano    時間: 2010-6-16 14:09

If u are going to do yen exchange here, don't go to Bank ..  just go to whatever currency exchange company. (you can negociate, if the amount is big)

Unless you are buying US$ ..  then not much different.
