Sodium vapour street lamps are actually quite low wattage (only up to 200-ish W, I think), but are very bright for the amount of energy they consume.
My question is, how many of these green street lights are there across the country? And how cost effective are they? For the moment at least, solar and wind energy are still not very cost effective, although work in that area definitely needs to be pursued.

太陽能電燈?作者: chobit 時間: 2010-10-31 00:09
Rather it's cost effective or not depends on the amount of sun light they can get daily during the whole year.
For example, it actually doesn't work very well in Vancouver, Seattle, because we have short winter, and we receive quite alot of rain. However, it's actually getting pretty popular in the California area. Indeed, I think the extra energy being generated can go back to the Elect. company, and they would pay you back as well.
That's base on my very limited knowledge.作者: rainbow-davie 時間: 2010-11-1 22:35

but that one not only by solar, also by wind. We can have that here.
or... by Rain? 作者: BiscottiGelato 時間: 2010-11-1 23:52
It's both solar and wind. Seen those in a parking lot at Haunauma Bay Hawaii. As long as maintenance is not high, probably pretty cost effective.
