Anyone using Mobilicity or thinking to go over? You better think about it.
My dad just start using Mobilicity, but whenever he go inside (apartment/house/store/restaurant...etc), it just went roaming and roaming, no signal at all or roam to Rogers.
Even their plan looks good, but imagine how much you'll pay for the roaming and you don't even know when is it roaming.
Be careful everyone!

roaming, if you don't make or answer any calls, they still charge you roaming fees?
作者: pkphilip    時間: 2010-12-7 23:45

At least they don't tie you up for a contract when you sign up, leave it if you are not happy.

I already pointed out earlier on someone else's thread, Mobilicity and Wind running AWS systems and they are fairly spotty at the moment.

When you are roaming, you won't be charge if you don't answer or make a call.

unlimited calling doesn't cover roaming (i.e. text/talking when your phone goes into roaming -> using roger's network)
We checked, don't call on hwy 91, you will be part way in the roaming zone while crossing it between richmond and new west.

But the new unlimited plan includes long distance province-wide, canadian, and also US.
So it doesn't really matter if it is roaming???

but long distance calling only apply when you call someone with long distance. Not when you are not in the coverage area.  Roaming is different from LD.
Correct me if it's the other case. It's getting confusing here.

Yeah... it is just hard to rationalize that LD in Canada/US is free, but need to be charged for roaming within the city...

amm.. e.g.
you call your friend in Kamloops (it's provenical long distant call) but you are current in Vancouver (i.e. coverage area) then it's free.
you call your friend in Vancouver and you are in the roaming area on hwy 91. Roaming charge apply.

Canada is still quite behind on the LD thing, in the US... national calls are considered local with many telco.

To be honest, I am happier with my T-Mobile service in the state than my Fido service. Fido is good to me, but T-Mobile is even better.

no the difference is whether you are in the supposed coverage while you make the phone call
作者: pkphilip    時間: 2010-12-8 15:19

Basically when your phone shows "Roaming", you are going to pay if you make/receive calls. You can probably set the phone's network setting to use the home network, but the phone will probably be useless of spotty coverage.

Hopefully I didn't get this wrong but let's say if you are with mobilicity's plan no matter what kind of plan you have but once your phone is roaming then that means your phone is using other operator's service such as rogers, fido, and etc.  In that case you aren't using the mobilicity's plan that's why roaming charges you no matter what because you aren't signed up with the other operators.  So just simply put it this way, no matter if it's dialing or receiving or just whatever it is as long as you are roaming then you have to pay and the charge isn't cheap too.  Roaming happens when you are in a spot where your phone couldn't get a signal from your operator so the phone searched for other providers.

That's my understanding about roaming, if I'm wrong let me know.  Thanks

It never happen to me because I simply don't pick up. Since roaming is charged in 30 sec increment, can you check how much time was charged when you reject a call?

I just came back from the US for 4 days and my phone rang at least 6 times and went to voice mail on a few. I did not get charged for roaming on my current bill.

I called Rogers last week asking them how much to end my contract.  They ask me why so I told them Mobilicity is now in my area so I am thinking of porting my number to them.  My current bill is about $150 a month as I call a lot of LD within Canada.  They offer me a unlimted plan for $50 per month including CID, voicemail, call forwarding, unlimted call and receive to any number in Canada & USA as long as I am in Canada and the phone is connected to a Roger/Fido tower.  What a great deal and you don't have to worry about the zone limit with Wind or Mobilicity!!  This plan does not include roaming in USA, just anywhere in Canada that Rogers have coverage.  They told me that this plan is for current Rogers customer only and cannot offer to new customer.  FYI.
