Be the first to Comment 4 Recommendation(s) VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Members of the special gang task force have made two major arrests. One of those arrested is the brother of the gangster shot and killed at a Metrotown Mall parking lot in October.
Twenty-six-year-old Sukhveer Dhak was arrested this afternoon at 136 Street and 58 Avenue in Surrey. Police say Dhak is well known to them. He was out on bail in relation to a drug trafficking investigation at the time of the arrest.
Police say Sukhveer Dhak was involved in some kind of plot that was set to take place on November 15th in Surrey before police intervened. He has been charged with counselling to commit an indictable offence of aggravated assault
Sergeant Shinder Kirk with The Gang Task Force isn't giving details on what Dhak's plan may have been but says it doesn't seem to be related to the shooting death of his brother Gurmit in the Metrotown parking lot in October. At this point it's certainly not. And it appears to be unrelated to other issues within Metro Vancouver"
In an unrelated investigation, 38-year-old Christopher Chand was arrested Friday near his home in Vancouver. He is also well known to police and is facing three charges, including one count of assault causing bodily harm in a recent incident in Burnaby, breach of recognizance and theft of a motor vehicle over $5,000.
