VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Our kitchen cupboards used to be filled with those cheap plastic bags, but these days many of us are overloaded with reusable shopping bags. However, they might not be as green as we think.
The fact that many of them are shipped from China isn't exactly environmentally friendly or sustainable. Many are made with a mix of plastics, which means a lot of energy was used to create the product.
Health Canada has warned using them repeatedly increases the chance that food will come in contact with bacteria. Major North American retailers, including Sears and Lululemon, have recalled the popular bags after tests showed they contained lead.
