if you keep shooting at 0.5m, of course you would get a shallow depth of field

but i agree that the tone looks really nice for the price

I got the nex 3 for only $399.
If it was $450, I would not get it.
The above pic on the lady was about 3 or 4 meters away, f/5, 1/30 sec to capture that turning head. The ISO quality is not bad for such newbie cam, it was at ISO 3200, because the room is not well lit.
