Assume the radioactive dust is constantly leaking from the Fukushima nuclear plant at the same rate as it is now, it seems like it will take about a month (from the day the nuclear plant is bury) for the I-131 to decay back to the tolerance level.
BTW, seems like the air pollution will stay in the Tokyo basin for a while. Wish there is more offshore wind blowing from the NW and let the plume to stay away from the Fujiyama ridge... But still, the 300 Bq/kg I-131 tolerance level is based on an adult keep continuously drinking over a certain period at a certain amount and still safe. In other word, the accumulation effect is being covered.
Do you know what's the international agreed Operational Intervention Level (OIL)? It is 3,000 Bq/kg for I-131...
In environmental science, especially regarding to human health, there is always FOS on top of FOS...
