美國總統奧巴馬將於周日宣布，蓋達組織領袖拉登已經死亡。

法新社引述不願透露姓名的美國高級官員說，拉登已經死亡。但官員沒有透露拉登的死亡原因。

奧巴馬將罕有地在周日晚出現在電視上，向美國人公布有關消息。

CNN：美軍巴國打死拉登 (11:32)
美國有線電視新聞網（CNN）引述消息稱，美軍在巴基斯坦首都伊斯蘭堡以外的一座住宅中打死拉登。

美國相信拉登是2001年九一一襲擊的主謀，美軍多年來搜尋拉登。

但拉登一直成功逃避美軍的追捕，美軍相信他躲藏在巴基斯坦和阿富汗邊境地區。
