anticipating my orders from chapters:

The Tao Of Wu

Sequel to the Wu Tang Manual, from the artist group Wu Tang Clan, a bunch of black rappers using Chinese wuxia literature as a theme to their songs. This book documents their road to success in the 90's.

Flood
Ark

Both books are disaster fiction leading to science fiction, Western literature seems to have a craze of an Armageddon. Global Warming leading to flood and then civilization is abandon on earth.

Food of the Gods: The Search For The Original Tree Of Knowledge A Radical History Of Plants, Drugs

An interesting theory of how drug use shapes our society, the oppression of psychedelics and the promotion of alcohol give space for a male-dominant, egotistical society. We all seem to view psychedelics drugs as dangerous, but it may be the  stepping stone towards an egalitarian society.

The Wire Re-up: The Guardian Guide To The Greatest Tv Show Ever Made

A lot of my friends and family are complaining to me about my laziness, I am using my precious time to strive for intellect and a peace of mind, isn't that the most important in life? Industrial society think otherwise I suppose. I pay for my own food, pay for rent, pay for my parent's and friend's food sometimes, they say I could be more, meaning more materials? These so-called friends and family want you to conform to their industrial lifestyle, because they feel it's 100% right, they actually have anxiety over other people that are not them.

that is true, my father has traditional Chinese ideologies, he probably expect me to reproduce. you can call me weird, but ever since I was 4 years old, i had this notion that i would not get marry or reproduce. no homo, but again other people think otherwise due to their narrow-mindedness.

Just a piece of my mind to share...

Parents can expect a lot of their grown-up children but it doesn't mean you have obligations to satisfy all of their expectations. Good parents let their adult children plan their own lives. They give sensible opinions, not straight orders. Bottom line, follow your heart and your head but don't do anything stupid.

Against The Grain: How Agriculture Has Hijacked Civilization

In this provocative, wide-ranging book, Richard Manning offers a dramatically revisionist view of recent human evolution, beginning with the vast increase in brain size that set us apart from our primate relatives and brought an accompanying increase in our need for nourishment. For 290,000 years, we managed to meet that need as hunter-gatherers, a state in which Manning believes we were at our most human: at our smartest, strongest, most sensually alive. But our reliance on food made a secure supply deeply attractive, and eventually we embarked upon the agricultural experiment that has been the history of our past 10,000 years.
The evolutionary road is littered with failed experiments, however, and Manning suggests that agriculture as we have practiced it runs against both our grain and nature''s. Drawing on the work of anthropologists, biologists, archaeologists, and philosophers, along with his own travels, he argues that not only our ecological ills-overpopulation, erosion, pollution-but our social and emotional malaise are rooted in the devil''s bargain we made in our not-so-distant past. And he offers personal, achievable ways we might re-contour the path we have taken to resurrect what is most sustainable and sustaining in our own nature and the planet''s.

一口氣看完一本關於北韓的譯本書 “我們最幸福” (original is Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea, by Barbara Demick)

http://www.books.com.tw/exep/prod/booksfile.php?item=0010507026

I can see the 30s elite is similar to the Chinese peasants family today, society didn't change much.

speaking of 金庸, I can't read it anymore, I can't believe I used to like this stuff, the books are great, and the author is very well informed and it serves entertainment value, but way too much morality involved. 金庸 always put his main character on a moral high ground, I think i can't read it because it is trying to program me into this moral high ground character in real life, would not be practical. I can't accept 金庸 anymore after I've read Game of thrones. LOL.

鹿鼎记 are the exception.
