I open a new topic and only welcome people who can "talk" properly.

Why did I mention Singapore particularly?

First, there are too many similarities between these two. They both are British colonies, geographically small, highly educated, 高度清廉，important ocean shipping and logistics hub in Asian, more importantly, both are world financial center (Singapore is No.4 in the world just after HK as No. 3, correct me if I am wrong).

Second, Singapore has realized it needs to develop high value industries to strengthen its economic role in Asian and the world very early. Therefore, the government has set up favourable policies and financial support to attract investments into Singapore.

#1)       It puts in consistent efforts to attract companies from China and India to go IPO on its exchange.

#2)       It provides favourable assistances to industries that are on its wish list such as creative industries, IT, bio and life sciences, technologies research and development centers, Asian regional head quarters, etc. A few years back, one of our friends in Singapore asked us whether we would be interested in investing in Singapore. If we invest in the industries on the wish list, the Singapore government will match the investment 1-to-1. That mean Singapore government will put in one dollar for very dollar we put it. At last, we did not proceed the opportunity.

#3)       It is already an important logistic hub in Asian beside HK. It expands its competitive strengths by signing Free Trade Agreement with US. I believe it is negotiating the agreement with Canada as well. That creates new opportunities for Singapore that foreign companies will set up assemblies centers in Singapore. The products assembled in Singapore will be label as “Make in Singapore” and be qualified for tax-free (this is what I was told, and not verified myself). That is a very attractive opportunities for many foreign companies which already have huge manufacturing bases in south Asian such as Malaysia and Philippine, and the finished products would be consolidated and loaded in Singapore ports anyways.

#4)       It aims to establish its tourism industry by relaxing law and regulation on the establishment of Casino. Partners with Holly Wood and builds Universal Studios.

I just name a few things that Singapore is doing. Yes, HK is still leading ahead of Singapore especially with the back-end supports from mainland China (that is a huge advantage). But if HK continues to sleep on its past glories, it will be eventually taken over.

Don’t blame CCP for that if the day comes. The future is in the own hand of HK people and its government.

Your starting basis is immediately wrong. HK is no longer 高度清廉 anymore. Ties between government officials and the rich developers have already grown too close, and practices to "cooperate" has long turned into the norm. HK is also losing its status as the logistic hub in Asia. The Kwai Chung terminal was once a top cargo port in the world, but its import / export throughput has long been surpassed by a lot of other ports, and its throughput ranking has dropped at least several notches.

Another distinguishing difference between HK and Singapore is, Singapore is a sovereign country who can say no to China, but even though HK should technically be operating under the 1-country-2-policies banner, we all know the useless government administrators won't / can't say no to a lot of Grandfather's orders. This point alone changes how China approaches Singapore (compared to HK), and it places a severe limit in what HK can or cannot do.

The ranks of the Singapore government is filled with real talent. IIRC, Singapore regularly sponsors their best and brightest students to study overseas, and when they come back, they are hired / absorbed back into the government bodies. In HK, Grandfather requires that top ministers be supportive of the Establishment, so posts are given out based on loyalty, not merit. This alone determines the quality of the policies that come out of the administration, and you got it right -- they all suck.

HK is persistently suffering from the pollution effects of southeastern China's industrial belt to the point where it is bad enough such that foreign companies have repeatedly indicated that this is a point of concern to them locating their regional headquarters here. HK is completely powerless against this Mainland China "export". Singapore is clean and just hot, and the hot climate can easily be dealt with through generous use of the A/C.

Leaders in the HK Tourism board are 無種 and have been so narrow-minded in only focusing on and catering to Mainland China tourists. Over the past few years, HK's count of western visitors have consistently been dropping, while Mainland China visitor numbers skyrocketed. Visitors from the West wants to see HK's distinctive flavour of East meets West, and the SAR government has been working so hard to erase all traces of the British colonial rule as well as distinct local HK traits. When a city has no character of its own, who wants to come and see it anyway? Increasingly, we have even heard from many Mainland tourists that they wouldn't consider returning to HK for sightseeing purposes because there is nothing special to see. But they will still come to buy brand name stuff (but we dunno how long that trend will continue as Mainland Chinese cities start catching up to HK in this area as well...)

低能仔，

如果香港都廉潔嘅話，就唔會有梁展文案呢一類咁嘅案件爆出來啦？而梁展文一事只係問題冰山嘅一角，仲有不知幾多 low profile啲嘅同類事情一直發生。

香港玩嘅唔係明貪污，而係政界同商界有計劃咁進行利益輸送，而從中被剝奪嘅就當然係一眾小市民啦？

不過講漏咗，香港唯一一樣好過新加坡嘅就係，響香港，你可以日日出來diu班狗官；響新加坡你夠膽咁做嘅話，政府就會立即搵人來告你誹謗，然後用司法程序來夾硬整死你（可能係要你不斷官非纏身、耗盡家財、大玩司法程序來整到你入冊等等）。

明嘅～有人想扮理性來 show off，再順便抽我水，但點知一講起啲論點就俾我直接又好、間接又好咁駁返晒轉頭。想扮講度理又唔夠我來，想講新加坡多啲又唔係真係好熟，咁咪唯有學啲死飛仔咁，一邊着草一邊留返句說話來攞個尾彩咁囉～

It will be another embarrassment to you again if I respond. However, will you learn and feel shameful about yourself? No, and no one will expect you will.

As I said in the beginning, I only welcome people that can talk properly and have the ability to look at an issue objectively and discuss with open mind.
