I hate to carry my D300s and lens travelling in foreign countries.  I'm looking for a DC with more manual controlling features and 1080 video.  Canon G12 could be an option but only 720 video solution or no zooming function while in video recording.  Fujifilm X100 is way out of my budget... any suggestion ?  Just wondering what DC used by serious photographers in their leisure time.   
Any suggestion ?

Or shall I consider M 4/3 camera ?  but I know nothing about the picture quality and relibility of these new camera.

m4/3 is good....

I am going on a 2 week trip soon, planning to bring my full dslr gear tho, haha

M4/3 is the way to go for traveling!!!

nothing can beat that!!!

light weight, small, cool and yet you can change lens!!!

all depend, you need good flash? zoom lens? wide angle? 12Mp? 14Mp? touch screen? water proof? Video?

I think it should be fine only if you don't need telephoto lenses.....

most of the focal range of those lens is pretty much for street  / everyday use

I am a serious photographer who mainly use my iPhone during my leisure time! Haha.... half kidding la.

When I go travel for leisure not work, I want to bring/use as minimal equipment as I can, so I won't bring any heavy stuff but only my GirlFriend2 (GF2) and two pancakes (no zoom, thanks!), before I used G9 and T700.

GF2 and GF3 are micro 4/3 right ?
I read a few articles about m4/3 senor size but can't figure out how the picture quality comparing to DC (like Canon G12/ 95) and my D300s.  Is it in the middle of DC and DSLR ? Then again as Philip said, I need to pay and carry more for m 4/3 lens.  Am I correct ?

I would say, GF2 is pretty much 5D quality, just the sensor is smaller. As long as you're not blowing up to large size enlargements, GF2 can even beat some lower end DSLRs. (just my pov). And it's surely better than G series and many other prosumers. So of course, price is higher. And also of course, you have to carry more than only a prosumer by itself. But compare to a set of DSLR, micro 4/3 is still way lighter and occupies less space. It's up to your choice.

Thx for all information. I got better idea now.
So,  if I don't go for m4/3 system (don't want to have another set of lens or cheap), Canon G12 is the only option ?

all suggestions: G12, GF2, DP-1 are good DC
I have same problem, my D7000 set is too heavy, at first I want to buy a GF2 or GF3. (with a len change option for future)
Finally, I bought FZ100 for trip photo. (one len 25-600mm fit all my need)

或者咁講丫，如果係去旅行，帶一部你最熟悉最得手應心既相機仔去，幾舊幾多pixal都唔係問題，隨心順手影到你心目中既影像比較重要。如果係就快要去旅行，用旅行時間黎學習新機操作我自己覺得係幾掃興～～

Oh I totally agree!
Taking pics on a trip is just part of the whole vacation. If you spend too much time only focusing on your camera/pics taking, you might lose many other enjoyments like eating, shopping, sight-seeing. Except for a particular photo trip, picture taking is the main goal.

I agree too.

There is no point thinking over what cameras to use if your main goal is not taking photos. Cell phones are good enough for 99% of travellers.

But to answer the original question: "what DC would serious photographers use in their leisure time?", I personally think "cell phone" might not be a serious answer.

My Dad used Samsung and he mentioned the ring tone volume is soft compare to others. N8 camera is awesome and I don't care about apps. Which Samsung you using now?

S2. .. i think the ring tone is TOO loud.

Nokia is going down. keep dropping i am supportter for 18yrs.
BUT
i don't care apps too.. i want a phone... but still, i finally i switched.
