long weekend is coming. the peach arch border crossing for thursday in the morning is already 30 minutes. i can't imagine what it'll be like on friday. probably 1hr+

for those who are planning to shop at exit 202, don't forget to leave early and drive carefully.

Not during the long weekend. I remembere there was one long weekend, I was there about 1:00 Saturday and I needed to wait for 1.5 hours. I was lucky that my lane was fast otherwiser, it could have been 2 hours.

ummm... last couple of times... i left at around 2 - 2:30... (and not come back until like 12ish)
and the wait time was only 40mins - 1hr... (coming back to CAN @ 12ish was only like 20 - 40min)
but then i didn't shop at 202... i went to other malls instead... so leaving that late might not work out so well... i'm not sure when does 202 close...

Last time I did that, I went across the border the night before, wait time was 1 minute LOL.
Stay in a hotel, and shopping the next day.

It is not really a wild idea, b/c the hotel parking lot was full of cars with BC plate that night. So I guess a lot of people do that to avoid the line up during day time.

i think coming back on monday/sunday night will be a looooooong line up. probably worse than the line up to get there. i remember last time when i went during the long weekend, it took me 45 min-1 hr.

Just go with the flow... Last time I went to the states, I saw 5 police cars in different locations of I-5 writing tickets on my way to outlet.

Not sure if Peace arch is still under construction, if yes, I would recommend the truck crossing!

Since we are relatively close to the border, why does people like to go across the border during long weekend and not any other days?

Unless there are huge sales like Black Friday or Boxing day, I prefer going to US at night.

We went through Peace Arch border on Saturday. It was surprisingly fast...took us less than an hour to cross, perhaps because we left late at around 10:30am. However, coming back to Canada took us 3 hours and 15 minutes. The radio broadcast was saying 4 hours for Peace Arch and 1.5 hours for Pacific but it was too late by the time I listened to it.

well maybe because long weekend = day off for most of the ppl?
so they can finally go together as a family?

It took me about 1.5 hr on Saturday to cross (peace arch@ 9am) at and 4.5 hr to get back that night =(

For Pacific some people do this shortcut: go to duty free shop to buy a bottle of water, with the receipt you can go out from the duty free parking lot to the exit that is very close to the boarder.
