ssssh, 唔好同人講我MJJ 係一個土生土長既香港仔啊~
因緣制遇, 兒時認識了一位刎頸之交, 他來也匆匆, 去也匆匆的移居了Vancouver, 便跟這裡建下了不解之緣了.

其實我都只係有感而發, 因為自秋風起到而家我已經食左3 餐蛇羹了.

I'm surprised Ms Kaka won't realize you are not in Van...

BTW, we do have some frozen snake meat in Vancouver. But certainly not the live stock that you can see in Asia. Occasionally we can see some snakes in the regional park during summer.

Beside snakes, we have many local alternate substitutes... Bear, buffalo, moose... Last week my co-worker went hunting and shot a black bear...

bear? 唔係真係去食熊掌丫麻, 好似好殘忍咁.
好似話d 外國人係唔食熊掌, 同d 中國人一齊打獵既話對熊掌通常都係會比中國人的, 是嗎?

I remember (I may be wrong...) when you shot a bear or other large animal the hunter needs to report to the ministry. Then the ministry will send some officials onsite to check and record. After that I have no idea, have to read through the regulations...

The local hunter will eat the meat and take the fur. I remember there are some restrictions for the palm and the gut... You can own it but you cannot sell it, it's illegal...

Nothing to that... I believe both palm and gut are prohabited internationally just like the ivory, Canada is not alone...

熊掌, 熊膽, 象牙, 我估係中國人先至鍾意呢堆野. 世界上有條列控制以上物件既進出口, 好明顯係防止有人為左呢d 物件而暴殺呢d 頻危既野生生物. 冇計, 中國實在人口太多了.

Not really, it's just the culture...

Just like some Asians like dogs, cats, snakes...
Northern Canadians like wales, seals...
Desert tribes like camels...
Some Amazon locals like primates...

Hunting, is the basic instinct of human beings... we are animal of the same grade in the history...

can't really find any decent snake soup in Vancouver. most restaurants that offer it usually substitute it with pork/chicken. not real snake ge...

I can't stand the taste of snake. I tried it at a small snake place in MaOnShang (Hong Kong). The soup tasted like I was munching on a snake... I only had 1 spoonful and had to give up.

There wasn't any  palatable  snake soup in Metro Vancouver,
not the traditional  5 varieties of snakes,  the accompaniment are
poor quality:  the chrysanthemum is not good, nobody bother to make
the crispy  chips apart from  wonton skin. The soul of snake soup is the
snake bones, well,  anyone seen  snake bones  being used here? Just
regular  broth.  I was told that some restaurants were using  sea eels to
imitate snake meat.  I like eels very much, but they have nothing to do
with snake soup. I think the best mean to savor  snake soup is to take
a trip to HK in Winter.
