VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Investigators are speaking with dozens of witnesses after a targeted, deadly shooting at Ash Street and 7th Avenue earlier today. It was around 9:30 a.m. when witnesses rushed to the intersection after hearing several shots fired.
Some people performed CPR while Sylvia Slosel, who was in a nearby cafe, got a blanket to cover the victim. "He wasn't speaking. The gentleman who was taking his pulse said 'I feel a pulse.'"
Stacey lives in the same building as the victim. "He was like a typical 20-something guy, he was always courteous and nice and you would always seem him out walking his dog."
The dog was not hurt and police say the victim, who is in his late 20s, was shot several times. He has a record and well-known gang links.
Investigators won't confirm reports that a man wearing a balaclava, and all black was seen running south on Ash Street.
"The other thing is we can do a very extensive search in this area, which has a lot of businesses, for surveillance video that will match-up to that description. And hopefully it will capture this person running away and again that would be a great break in the case," says Constable Jana McGuinness.
