Police investigating double murder in Burnaby
Burnaby police and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team are investigating after two people were reportedly found dead inside a restaurant located at 6200 Royal Oak Avenue at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Officers were called after a passerby reportedly noticed a person laying on the floor of the business.
When police arrived, they found two dead bodies believed to be the victims of foul play. IHIT was then called in to aid in the investigation.
“Our priority is to identify the victims and determine their connection to each other,” RCMP Sgt. Jennifer Pound said in a release.
“IHIT is leading this investigation and although it is in the early stages it appears to be a double homicide,” Pound said.
Police are withholding the name of the restaurant until the victims are identified and the next of kin have been notified, various media are reporting.
Police have taped off the entire 6500 block on Royal Oak while they continue to investigate. They have also set up tarps around the restaurant and nearby businesses.
Anyone with information regarding this crime are being asked to contact the IHIT tip line at 1-877-551-4448, or by email at [email protected].
