For the two garden photos, did you take them in a garden? Which one is that?  I don't recall I have seen one like that there.
Were you able to take photos of streets after dark? Before the earthquake, the streets were lighted up beautifully at night and the streets were full of people and all the stores were open. But after the quake, the city stop lighting up the streets and buildings after dark and stores close early, so the streets were empty at night.

I am not sure whether the streets are lighted up again now.

Of course, you can. Just pick up a self-guided tour book in bookstore.

But pay attention to the type you pick. Normally there would be one for those taking public transit and one more focuses on self-driving.

It's inside a hotspring hotel that we stayed at ^_^
the place is called 宏樂園, about 10min of drive from the tourist attraction area

you might want to look that up next time you visit
it's pretty good deal. about 13k yen a night, with indoor and outdoor hotspring. dinner and breakfast included (those food in the picture are dinner) so much food and so good >o< (my taste bud is very 遲鈍, but if I say it's good, that's mean it's very good!)

We stayed there one night then visited other hostels for the other nights to save money lol

I would say it's pretty hard to access some attraction sites outside of sapporo, otaru, or asahikawa @@ so driving is almost a must

unless carrying all those luggages and walking all those distance are not big problems >_<

plus we had 3 people together so we splitted for the 5 days rent that was 26800 after insurance. We rented a Fit hybrid. That little car was very good on gas. After running 800km, only consumed 1.3 tank of gas.

We didn't stay in that one. It is a bit far and we preferred to stay in a hotel which was closer to the center. The city at night was very beautiful when the streets and buildings were lighted up.

Unfortunately, the city stop lighting up the streets and buildings after the earthquake (I guess for the purpose of energy saving). The streets turns dark and empty after the sunset.

I guess it was still the same situation when you visited there.

No, the canal is the only part left to be lighted up after the earthquake.

The commercial streets that you took photos during the day were normally all lighted up with sport lights. So the buildings looked beautiful and the streets were full of people. But now they are all empty after dark.

It was all lighted up over there and the time was about 7pm

I guess that was only a temporay energy saving procedure for a few months?
even when I was in tokyo last year in October, I didn't see much light being turned off

When did you visit there? I was there in the summer and did not see the buildings lighted up at all (the lights inside the stores should not be counted). I was so disappointed since my friends were expecting to see what I showed them in the pictures we took before the quake.

Even Sapporo was much darker than the time before the quake. The shopping centers used to be shined under spot lights, but they were all turned off when we were there in summer.

I was there 4 weeks ago ^^

I guess they had not fully recovered from the electricity supply during the time of your visit
everything was quite back to normal when I visited tokyo last October
